This handicap competition uses a different scoring system from the League and Anon Cup fixtures.
- Firstly, there are no doubles events.
- Each player plays 2 singles events, each event consisting of 5 games up to 11 points.
- When one player reaches 11, the game is over and the next game is played, until all 5 games are complete.
- The number of points won by each player during the 5 games is added up to give the score for the event.
- At the end of the match, the totals for each team are added up.
- The handicap adjustment is added to the totals.
- The team with the greater total after adjustment will be the winner.
The handicap is decided after each round draw by the League’s committee based on the playing strength of the 4 strongest players registered for the team.
The draw involving Southport teams is as follows:
A team – Away – vs Formby TTC ‘D – handicap + 70 points
B team – Away – vs North Meols ‘B’ – handicap “scratch”
C team – bye
D team – Home – vs Formby HT ‘E’ – handicap + 300 points
E team – Away – vs Paraplegics ‘A’ – handicap + 80 points
