Cup Update

Firstly, thanks to everyone for their good wishes for my recent hip operation (Birmingham Hip Resurfacing). The operation went to plan, and I’m now up and about, doing my exercises and looking forward to my physiotherapy sessions!
We’re now nearing the end of what has been an eventful season, with only a handful of matches to be played. The ‘A’ team had a good win against St Teresa’s ‘D’ to make it to the final of the Anon Plate and now wait to hear who their opponents will be. The ‘C’ team plays Formby TTC ‘E’ in the semi-final of the Gunson Plate this evening (Friday, 14th), conceding a 40 point advantage (though Formby have won 2 and drawn 1 of the three previous matches between the teams this season). Without regulars Alan Nolan, Tom Taylor and Andy Hickey, the form book will be no guide; Tom Banton will be joined by Paul Lunan and Jeff Cummins again, as in the last round, and our new signing from Huddersfield, Jim Irving.

Next week is the last week of league matches, and the show piece should be the rearranged match between the ‘B’ and ‘A’ teams on Tuesday 18th March. We plan to make this a practice night as well, and hope to see lots of people there.
