Coaching and Practice sessions

Coaching starts next Monday 27th September – see Coaching for more details.

We also have a list of probable Practice evenings.

New season starts 20th September 2010

First off is Monday’s match between North Meols B and Southport C. You might be excused for wondering how that is possible looking at last season’s final league tables: North Meols B were promoted from division 2 and Southport C were relegated. However, in their places, two of the sides promoted from division 3 were North Meols C and Southport D, and since then both clubs have radically restructured their teams. The result is unpredictable, to say the least.

Next up, Southport A entertain St Teresa’s D, and again the result is hard to call. Southport’s first match means an immediate call-up for first reserve Jonathan Cummins against a St Teresa’s line-up which may be affected by the withdrawal of their C team from the first division.

On Wednesday, the all-junior Southport E team takes on North Meols D, a family affair which normally includes Dennis and Val Morley and their grandson Oliver Moir, while Argyle C play hosts to a somewhat weakened Southport F team, which has lost Alan Town to the D team.

A revamped Southport B includes three juniors from last season’s C team; their improvement over the season came too late to save them from being relegated, but we hope it will be enough to keep them up this time. The B team will have to share the hall with the much changed Southport D, choosing from Alan Town, Jeff Cummins, Tom Taylor, Ken Ray and Kamil Zadroga.

Best wishes to all the teams for the coming season!
