Hi Alan
hope I'm doing this right!
Alan I'm doing an Obituary on John Pilkington in our next L&DTTL Digest (Nov.) Don Davies is going to write a few notes, but I'm looking to see if I can find a photo from somewhere, I had never met John, so don't know what I'm looking for, but I am now looking at a photo of your 'A' team on the Southport & District League web site from last year, Colin Fyles is the only one I recognise, the other three look 'fairly' young, but is John one of those, if not, any ideas where I may get a photo.
I will contact you in the near future to return old Digests which you kindly loaned me, all scanned, and on my web site with another 220 (Ithink), only 9 more to find
many thanks

In marked contrast to your experience, the tables were duly delivered, and 3 of us "assembled" them in less than an hour.
Since then, we've been using them at practice nights throughout the summer, and now on match nights.

We purchased two tables three months ago, they have turned into two green elephants! and still unpacked.
We have been informed that no-one in our establishment is 'qualified' to assemble them, and that this is a Health & Safety Issue.
Bearing in mind that the tables are designed, manufactured, and packed with instructions that a 10 year old could follow, our hands are tied.
And all that needs to be done that we can see that would be a concern is that nuts have to be screwed onto bolts! so, we are present looking for a qualified screwer or nutter?

I would suggest 'E' for "enduring" is more appropriate. With a team containing only one player with previous league experience, it was always going to be hard to pick up many points. The fact that you have kept going, when week after week you are up against teams of much greater experience, does you all great credit! And, though you may not always realise it, the standard of your play IS improving.

There is a lesson in this for other teams and other players - table tennis at our level is a hobby, enjoy the contest, learn a little each time you play, and don't put points above participation.
