With the closure of the sports hall during the Easter holidays, and the League season finishing on April 13th, any of our home matches during the last 2 weeks of the season had to be brought forward and have now been played. This leaves us with just a few away fixtures to play.

The A team has a fair chance of surviving its first season in division 1, with Formby HT C being their main rivals in avoiding the drop. Both teams have difficult last three matches, so it is still very close.

In division 2, the B team has a good chance of promotion, leading St Teresa’s C by 1 point after 15 matches, whilst the C and D teams should maintain their division 2 status.

The 3rd division has already been won by Argyle D, but the G team is well placed to finish as runners-up and gain promotion at the first attempt.

The next few weeks will provide the answers!

The B team is currently leading Division 2, but by the most slender of margins – just 2 points ahead of St Teresa’s C from the same number of matches, and just 11 points ahead of Argyle B who have a match in hand. Their final position is very much in their own hands, as they still have to play both their main challengers.

In the 3rd Division, the G team is challenging for promotion, well behind Argyle D, but 4 points ahead of rivals Formby TTC G. This contest could be even closer, as they play each other in the penultimate week of the season. The E team will also play a big part, as they play both the contenders in the final 3 weeks.

The E and F teams are having their own battle for supremacy, near the foot of the division; both teams have 53 points from 15 matches, and are due to play each other on 27th March.

In the Gunson Plate, the E team is through to the semi-final where they will start 260 points ahead of 1st division side Formby TTC B. Meanwhile, the C team has its own semi-final in the Anon Plate, against St Teresa’s C. In the League this season, they are 1 win apiece, so it should be a good game.
